Service Ministries

- Christian Community Service Center
- Bethany and its members support the Christian Community Service Center
(CCSC) as employees and volunteers, and through donations of money, food,
clothing, and school supplies. Incorporated in 1980, CCSC is a coalition
of 37 Houston-area churches united in service to inner-city Houston. Primary
CCSC outreach programs include:
- Emergency
Services – Food, clothing, and financial assistance for people
in crisis.
- JobNet –
Assists those searching for work.
- Back to School
– Provides school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and clothing for
low-income students.
- Jingle
Bell Express – Provides Christmas toys, books, and meals for
children and families in poverty.
- Vision
Care – Provides on-site vision screening, eye exams,
and eyeglasses for underprivileged students.
- CanCare
- CanCare of Houston is an interfaith cancer support network that recruits
and trains volunteers to provide one-on-one support and encouragement to
cancer survivors and their families. Bethany’s involvement includes
member volunteers, staff participation on leadership boards, and financial
contributions.
- Disciples Conference Center
- The Disciples Conference Center, Inc. (DCCI) in Gonzales, Texas, is a
camp and conference facility established by the Bluebonnet and Coastal Plains
Areas of the Disciples of Christ. Bethany and its members support DCCI through
financial contributions, work day and camp counselor volunteers, and participation
on the Management Board.
- Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston
- Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston (IM) brings people of all faiths
together to serve children, seniors, and refugees, and to promote interfaith
relationships, worship, and learning experiences. Bethany’s support
is in the form of financial contributions as well as member involvement
as employees and volunteers. Children’s Services advocates for the
needs and rights of at-risk and special needs children. Senior Services
enhances the independence and dignity of low-income seniors. Refugee Services
assists with assimilation of newly-arrived refugees.
- Seniors Place (Adult Alzheimer’s
Care)
- The Seniors Place is an Adult Day Care Center ministering to those with
early-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. The Center is
open 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and is located at 2714 Joanel, near the corner
of Westheimer and Edloe. Volunteers are needed for a variety of services.
Bethany is a sponsoring church for this ministry.

- The Bethany Office Ministry Program is a volunteer opportunity for men and women
to provide office support for all of the ministries and activities
of Bethany. If you feel called to participate in this ministry, please contact
